Anoka Pheasants Forever: Established in 1984 as the 13th Chapter

CRP

CRP stands for Conservation Reserve Program. In a nutshell, it is a federally-funded program where farmers get paid to leave land unturned. There are some restrictions and not all land is eligible. We don't know if everyone gets paid the same or not but there is a farmer in South Dakota that receives $77 an acre.

The land is still private and the farmer is NOT required to let people hunt on it. Some people may think that because it is CRP they don't need to ask permission from the owner to hunt on it. This is not true-in fact, it is still trespassing! The CRP has been an extremely hot topic over the last couple of years, due to the expiration of the original program, and the fight by all interested parties to renew, improve and increase the awareness of the need for this program.

The success of CRP means so much to Pheasants Forever members, pheasant lovers and wildlife in general. It may well be the single most important program there is for pheasants in particular.

At Pheasants Forever, we stress HABITAT, HABITAT, HABITAT! The pheasants need a place to hide from predators, winter, and hunters. Without habitat there would be no pheasants. That is one big reason we have so few birds in Minnesota right now-we've lost over half the CRP we once had!

PLEASE JOIN Pheasants Forever TODAY AND HELP US TO RESTORE HABITAT & BIRDS!
