Anoka County Pheasants Forever: Established in 1984 as the 13th Chapter

Habitat and Land Programs

On January 10th, 2004, the Anoka County Chapter of Pheasants Forever was recognized by Pheasants Forever National for their generous contributions and extremely hard work and dedication for the "Build A Wildlife Project". This recognition came at the 2004 Minnesota State Conference in Rochester, MN. Here are some photo's of the representatives for ACPF receiving their accolades.

The establishment of the Minnesota Habitat Fund began in 1998 through the commitment of just three men. Joe Gonsior from the Anoka County Chapter of Pheasants Forever, Gary Hoffiemister from Wright County Pheasants Forever, and Dale Trebesch from Brown County Pheasants Forever. Their commitment to the development of this fund stemmed from the fact that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find quality land acquisitions. Parcels that are available usually are larger and therefore more expensive. By bringing these chapters together, the fund has achieved overwhelming results.

To date, more than $680,132 has been raised by Pheasants Forever chapters, with an additional $394,900 raised through matching funds from federal and state programs like the Prairie Heritage Fund. From this more than $1 million effort, a total of 4,867 acres has been purchased in Minnesota for habitat conservation. At the present time, 66 chapters participate in the MHF.
